Eurogamer has their sixth round up for the Xbox 360 vs. PS3 games, and I'm still in shock from reading and looking. I'm a Xbox fanboy, but never did I think that the PS3 would produce such sloppy graphics. I'm sure it's in great extent debit to games being ported and rush jobs, but still. If you're still deciding between the two platforms, then read this article and take a good close look at the graphics. They're comparing Call of Duty 4, NBA Live 2008, Need For Speed ProStreet, Stuntman Ignition, WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, The Simpsons Game, Conan and finally Assasin's Creed, my fav game of the moment. ars tecnica has the most satisfying review to date of Assasin's Creed imo. I'm about halfway through the game (I promised myself not to touch Mass Effect before then which is hard, really hard -a Collector's Edition even). I agree with all except for the combat, I still think it's good -you just need to appreciate it differently than in most games. It's a game of skill, and so is the combat. If you know your combos and more importantly your timing (which believe me, later on gets really hard), then combat plays out like a great movie scene. Still, often it's much more fun to just make a run for it, knock over people and fruit stands and jump up a rooftop (I didn't know I could kick down and punch up while on ladders which is also very cool). Read it, if you're still thinking about getting this.

I think I'm like most xbox 360 gamers, feeling like sometimes I'm playing on borrowed time, because I'm playing on something extremely cool -for now (see?)- Xbox Live. I think, like most other hardcore fanboys, I feel good about how we're sticking it to Sony right now, another big corporation but one with a huge experience in gaming. But I worry at night. I worry that Xbox and Xbox Live will become too popular, too mainstream, opening the doors to other Microsoft departments to come in and fcuk it all up. You see it already, with the disneyfication of Live Marketplace and casual games, but I still shrug -I don't have to touch any of that if I don't want to.
The next update will see parental timers (wtf is that about? Everybody knows nobody gives a fcuk what kids play on their consoles -it's like selling comfy escalators to treehouses so mom has easier access with milk and cookies -woman, it's in a tree to get teh fuk away from u!) and now there's this buzz going about of hooking up Zune with Xbox Live. So basically, you have ur ugly little sister (who stinks, and eats sand) complaining to ur mom that you won't play with her. So mom tells you to play together. And you do, and all the neighborhood kids see you and laugh at you for being a douche.
See, that's my fear. And not just being called a douche for having to connect to some stoopid device nobody gives a fuk about, but all the bloatware it'll bring along. How long before my xbox crashes because of some unidentified error related to some crappy PMP I don't own? Bungie drops the first screenshots for the Halo 3
So I found solace in the second Ghost Recon Map Pack I still hadn't even downloaded, some Arcade games (The long and short of recent entries is Battlestar Galactica sucks and just for the fixed camera angle which has you literally pegged to ur tv trying to look up, Word Puzzle is kinda dumb at first and then kinda freakin autisticallly hard after, that new big shiny ball game is fun for when u come back from a party and just wanna chill for a bit (see too drunk every time I played too even remember the name l0lz).
Then came Assasin's Creed, which is something everyone who has an HDTV and an Xbox 360 needs to pick up (apparently u fcucked if u got the PS3 version which seems to crash) -it's stunning, and yes, a bit repetitive at times, but made up for by incredible visuals (it's the first time I play a sandbox game which has a 'human' draw distance -u can see everything in detail until as far as you would normally be able to see). Any of u ever felt sick climbing up a spire? I tell u, when he takes that jump away from a wall to grab something sticking out above you, I feel my stomach turn lolz!
Oh and all the crap u read about the fighting? Not true, it's a very slick fighting system imo, which uses your eyes (left stick) to focus on an opponent (say out of a group of five assailants), and then coordinating your (counter) attack, which again play out incredibly nice before you. And you do get attacked from all angles by multiple opponents, I read somewehere that baddies would take turns and just act lame -so not true. I guess with all the games coming out for Xbox 360 right now, some reviewers are cutting corners, esp with the huge games (get ready for the haters on Mass Effect for instance).
So here I am, enjoying long (vertical) strolls through ancient Jerusalem and along come ur neighborhood pushers, handing out free smack on a street corner near you. Hm, looking at the screen shots below, that would be pure heroin, uncut cocaine and homebrewed PCP. I'll so fall off the wagon.

too many games being released.. must soo suck being a PS3 fanboy now lol. So here's my strategy. Got Halo 3 (duh), am holding off for now on Call of Duty 4 and Assasin's Creed, buying Mass Effect (double duh) and Guitar Hero III. Then when price comes down a bit on CoD4 and Assasin I'll get those probably. Why? I'm a big Ghost Recon fan, and CoD, tho good looking, just looks too arcady for my liking. The first reviews on Assasin's Creed sorta gave me cold feet about the sandbox and the graphics being enough to fight off the repetiveness a lot of people are mentioning -so want to see a bit more reviews and ingame vids, esp. on the fighting, before I commit. I'm in Europe now and games cost upward of $80 here..
Here's Mass Effect's official trailer -to me it's simple, if ur making a single player game, Oblivion is the bar. So unless your name is Grand Theft Auto and you can make me just going for a drive down town for no reason, keep me busy for at least 50 hours (I think Oblivion with all the extra content kept me busy double of that actually).
